4th of July

4th of July is one of those American holidays where once a year; red, white, and blue erupt in your life like an extravagant show of sparkling fireworks. When it is appropriate to literally wear whatever you want as long as it pays some kind of homage to the land of the free and the home of the brave. And I love that! In a time of political turmoil and division, it is really nice to see everyone come together for at least a day.

This country isn’t perfect, but it’s mine and yours and hers and his and ours. And we must be thankful for a large or small part of it! I read about a woman whose parents immigrated here to escape their communist home-country and how proud and fortunate they feel to live in the USA; to raise their children here.  That’s a humbling story.

So with that, here are some highlights from our celebration of America’s birthday. We had a wonderful day swimming, eating, and playing with family and friends!

May freedom forever fly!

My friend had this adorable setup for photos outside her house!
